Making Professional Posters

This slideshow and hour-long instruction session was created based upon the needs of current LIS students, many of whom are tasked with creating a professional poster for the first time.  The session covers many of the basic points of poster making, such as the importance of slide sizing.  The session was capped off with a viewing of multiple student posters from previous semesters.

This was the fifth version of this presentation. I presented to LIS students in October 2015, October 2016, and September 2017. I also presented to LIS faculty and community members in the summer of 2016, and students & faculty at Windward Community College in Spring of 2017.

LIS Commons Redesign

One of the largest projects that I undertook during my time in the LIS department was redesigning the department common area.  I interpreted the results of a stakeholder survey, formulated a functional design, and (within a specified budget) was able to successfully implement the design in a six-week period.  The LIS department was able to debut the completed redesign just in time for the 50th anniversary celebration.

This was one of my favorite projects to complete for the LIS program.  I took a concept that was identified by the LIS Program Coordinator as a possible problem (cluttered inboxes) and created an instructional video that explained how to start getting electronically organized.  There was a bit of a learning curve with the Camtasia software, but it was fun, educational, and served a greater purpose.

This gallery highlights some of the visual works that I created, as well as some of the exciting events that I attended during my time in the LIS program.
